Not fair!
Anglicans to debate women bishops
400 welcomed as Catholic Priests. I hope we still have the doors open.
When women were first ordained Church of England priests in 1994, about 400 Anglican clergy became Roman Catholics in protest.
There are now some 400 women Anglican priests.
Their supporters believe it is illogical and unfair to continue to bar them from becoming bishops.
The Times reports that a woman could be consecrated by 2012 under proposals in a leaked copy of the document.
The document also proposes allowing new regional bishops for parishes that choose to opt out of the care of a woman bishop, the report says.
In their minds, it really is all about fairness. Fairness as in power, and
games playing. But this is the Church we are dealing with. Rather than power it
is service. Rather than games playing it is following Jesus' lead. And rather
than running after the last 30 year's culture, it is 2,000 years of
Tradition.I hope they "opt out" and come home.
