St. Bruno was my Confirmation Saint

I wonder how he was able to make fasting part of his life. I am completely out of control.
I think it helped that in his environment there was so little good food?

I thought I wanted to be a Trappist. When I showed my mom the brochures she talked me out of it, or at least had me look into diocesan Priesthood.
This was right before VaticanII. Probably Divine Providence knew I would not do well in the 60's and 70's as a Priest... either carried away with the nonsense, or isolated.
At the time, St. Bruno impressed me, although I can't remember the specifics anymore.
I still like him around for times when a denying-hermit attitude is required.
